Electromagnetic Ballasts, Ignitors, Capacitors Warranty

MST warrants that its products will be free from defects in material and workmanship from the date of purchasing by an original buyer for the following periods:

  • 5 years for ballast + ignitor,
  • 3 years for separate ballasts,
  • 3 years for separate ignitors,
  • 3 years for separate capacitors.

This warranty is conditional upon proper storage, installation, usage and maintenance.

This warranty is applicable to the ballasts, ignitors and capacitors which are:

  • properly connected
  • operated on a suitable power supply in accordance with the parameters specified in the applicable product specification sheet,
  • used in the lighting equipment designed and approved for the application and in environmental conditions within the normal specified operation range of product guidelines, IEC standards or any documents accompanying the product.

The ballasts, ignitors and capacitors are covered under warranty if they are used in applications or luminaires which meet the current national standards for this type of application or luminaires.

The product operating parameters should always be respected in accordance with the product leaflet.

This warranty is void if the product is not used for the purpose for which it is designed or if any repairs or alterations are made by any person not authorized.

This warranty is not applicable to a product that has been subject to abnormal stress or operating conditions in the power supply.

This warranty is not applicable to any product components that are subject to natural wear during operation resulting from reconnecting or misuse of the product.

This warranty does not apply to any damage or failure to perform arising as a result of any acts of God or from any abuse , misuse, abnormal use or any use or installation in violation of the safety regulations valid for the country where the installation takes place.

MST will correct any defects by either repairing any defective part or parts or by replacing any defective part or parts or by making available a new replacement product.

Repair or replace of the product or the defective part thereof does not include any installation, removal or replacement activities, costs or expenses, including labor and transport costs or expenses, and it is not covered under this warranty.

Product covered by this warranty must be reported and returned to MST within the applicable warranty period set forth in this warranty.

MST reserves the right to examine the complete luminaire with a defective product to carry out the process of considering the complaint properly.

Luminaire must be delivered to MST without any repairing works and modifications.

If returned products are found not to be defective or nonconforming, MST could charge the purchaser for shipping, testing and handling costs associated therewith.

If a test is needed to appraise whether defects defined herein existed or not, the conditions of the test shall be notified before the test, and MST reserves the right to participate in the test on-site.

If MST decides to replace a product under this warranty, MST may replace the product with a comparable product (that can show small deviations in design and product specification) for any reason, including instances where the product has been discontinued or is otherwise unavailable at such time.

General instructions and guidelines for installing and using the MST electromagnetic ballasts, ignitors and capacitors.

1. Earthing

The earthing terminal or bottom plate of electromagnetic ballast should be connected with the earthing terminal of luminaire.

2. Lamp type

The matching lamp type to be used in the application is specified on the ballast.

3. Power supply

The mains supply voltage is shown on the ballast. Make sure supply voltage is correct. The operating range should be -8% /+6% of the rated voltage.

4. Wiring

  • During wiring do not touch the screw in terminal blocks from ballast housing side. Please follow strictly the wiring chart which is shown on the label, or instruction. Please double check whether your wiring is same with wiring chart before connecting to mains.
  • Make sure the connection between the screw of ballast and wire is solid. Using an electric screwdriver, please follow the guideline: 0.5~0.6 Nm (M3 screw), 0.8~1Nm (M3.5 screw).
  • The cross-section range of lead wire is marked on the ballast terminal block. Please select proper lead wire accordingly.
  • The strip length of the lead wire must guarantee good electrical connection and prevent short circuit to the ground.

5. Connection and layout

  • Loose electrical connection is risky, please check carefully if the connection is appropriate.
  • Please keep proper space among an ignitor, capacitor and ballast. They cannot be too close to each other as they get heated. Also, wire needs to be tubed with self-extinguishable fiberglass sleeving, which can withstand a certain voltage and temperature. In this way it is isolated from the ballast.

6. Maintenance

In order to protect ballast please replace SON or metal halide lamp when the lamp is at end of life (the behaviors of end of life lamp include flickering, cycling, difficulty of ignition, color shifting, etc.). To extend the lighting system lifetime, the digital ignitor is recommended.

7. Storage and transportation

The ballast is warranted for storage within air circulative environment where no corrosive gas exist.
On transportation, careful attention must be given and exposure to rain, snow or water immersion and intense vibration are not allowed. Transportation/ storage pallets cannot be stacked on each other.
